It depends on Royal Mail really. I've had preorders come a day early, and sometimes on the release day. However, i've recently started shopping at shopto.net and they send the game off 2 days early and I always get it 1 day before the release day. It's usually a little tiny bit cheaper too, I preordered Fifa 12 special edition for 拢39 (拢45 in Game I believe)
If you want to get games early, either buy from there (1-day early) or alterntaively, find a small local standalone shop who specialise in video games and just ask them for a copy. A shop in my area sold me Black ops like 4 days early lol.
