The GPU is capable of running BF3 and will do it reasonably well
The CPU however is possibly capable of running it but I doubt if it will be very smoothly when things get interesting in game and everything is kicking off.
You may find your board is capable of using a better CPU, check the manual (or look it up on the manufacturers website) and see what is the best you can install.
If your upgrading your computer, id look at spending the extra and buying a quad core phenom, or an Athlon X3.
From what i have been reading, battlefield 3 will use more then two cores, so in this case a tri or quad core cpu will benefit.
The reason why a tri or quadcore cpu will benefit is becuase there are more cores to adress the GPU drivers directly.
The reason why there is a CPU bottleneck with the higher end cards is because the CPU cannot cope with the extra load involved with adressing a more powerfull card.
Although the majority of games depend on the GPU more then the CPU, there is stil alot of intense work for the CPU to do aswell such as the sound and game code processing etc. Having more cores allow the CPU to process more data to the GPU. This is also true about the speed of the CPU itself.
A phenom 965 is the best way to go as this will future proof your computer. If not, then something like an Athlon ii X3 455 will be a good option.Will a AMD 6850 and AMD X2 250 be able to run Battlefield 3?

The 6850 is fine, the Athlon II X2 250 is not.
At the very minimum, get an Athlon II X3 455. And in general, Athlons are weak... you'd want a Phenom II X4 955 or better (which includes ALL of Intel's Sandy Bridge processors) for BF3.
